Meet Dr. Ańna Roby
Hi, I’m Dr. Anna M. Roby, a Registered Dietitian and PhD-trained physiologist specializing in REDs (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport) and low energy availability in active women.
For more than 14 years, I’ve studied physiology, conducted research, and worked with hundreds of clients. Today, I combine evidence-based nutrition, physiology, and behavior change strategies to help active women restore their energy, rebuild their strength, and feel like themselves again.
Why I Do This Work
Throughout my career, I’ve worked with hundreds of women struggling with symptoms like fatigue, poor recovery, persistent hunger, declining performance, recurrent injuries, and missing periods. Again and again, I saw women who were working incredibly hard to take care of their health but were unknowingly underfueling their bodies.
What struck me most was how common this problem was, and how rarely it was being recognized or discussed.
Too many women are told their symptoms are simply part of being active, training hard, or getting older. Others spend years searching for answers without realizing that low energy availability may be the underlying cause.
After seeing the profound impact REDs can have on health, performance, and quality of life, I knew this was an area where I wanted to focus my work. My background in nutrition, physiology, and behavior change uniquely prepared me to help women understand what is happening in their bodies and navigate the recovery process with confidence.
Today, my mission is to help active women stop fighting their physiology and start working with their bodies so they can restore their energy, rebuild their strength, and feel like themselves again.
Education & Training
A Foundation in Nutrition, Physiology, and Behavior Change
My educational background spans nutrition, physiology, and psychology, three disciplines that play a critical role in REDs recovery.
I earned my degree in Nutritional Sciences from Cornell University before completing a combined PhD and dietetic internship to become a Registered Dietitian. Throughout my training, I conducted multiple randomized controlled trials at Cornell University and later worked as a Clinical Associate Translational Metabolic Investigator at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
In addition to my nutrition and physiology training, I pursued further education in psychology through Harvard University. This allows me to combine evidence-based nutrition and physiology with proven behavior change strategies, helping clients not only understand what to do, but successfully implement lasting change.
Today, I bring together research expertise, clinical nutrition training, and behavior change principles to help active women recover from REDs, restore their energy, and return to training with confidence.
My approach
Science, Individualized
Many women struggling with REDs already know a lot about nutrition. They’ve read the articles, listened to the podcasts, and spent countless hours trying to figure out what’s wrong.
The challenge isn’t finding more information, it’s knowing how to apply it to your unique situation.
My role is to help you cut through the noise and understand what your body needs to recover. I combine evidence-based nutrition, physiology, and behavior change strategies to create a personalized plan that fits your goals, lifestyle, and training demands.
Recovery isn’t about following a generic meal plan or trying harder. It’s about learning to work with your body so you can restore your energy, improve recovery, and feel strong again.
